I returned to Singapore again on the 19th August 2007. A dear friend and her hubby drove me back home to Kuantan. I thank God for giving me such a great friend.

Dad passed away on 18th August 2007 at 6am. I had left Kuantan on the 10th August with a heavy heart, knowing that I may not see dad again. I had spent much sharing the gospel with him for many years and had prayed and intensified the sharing of God’s Word with him for the past few months, knowing that he may not have much time left.

The Chengs had made a trip to Kuantan on the 14th July to share the gospel with him. Auntie Shirley shared the difference between Mahikari (my dad’s belief for many years) and Christianity with him. Dad said the sinner’s prayer on the 15th July 2007.

I returned to SG again on the 25th July to have my China visa processed. I was told that my passport would be held till I depart for Shanghai some time ago, but realized that my passport would be returned to me, so I made a trip back to Kuantan again on the 4th August to spend time with dad before I leave for Shanghai on the 12th August.

On my return to Kuantan this time, I asked dad if he had put his trust in the Lord Jesus. He said ‘no’. I continued sharing and affirming dad of God’s promises – forgiveness of sins, God’s love and gift of eternal life for those who believe. I told him that I really hope to see him in heaven.

“Don’t you hope to see us in heaven next time, dad?”

Tears welled up in his eyes. That was the turning point in his life.

“God loves you dad. God wants to give you his gift of eternal life. You are made holy because God has forgiven you of all his sins”. Will you believe in this Jesus?

The next day, I asked him again, “Dad, God loves you and has forgiven you and wants you to give you this gift of eternal life? Will you believe in the Lord Jesus?”

Dad nodded his head. And the next few days were spent affirming him of God’s promises – his forgiveness of sins, his love and gift of eternal life.

God has put a desire in my heart to teach in Shanghai and he has opened that door for me and closed many others.

It is, however, also with a heavy heart that i’m leaving my family for Shanghai at times like this – my dad’s sickly condition.

His face turned pale. He was gasping for air. We thought he was going to give his last and teared. We called the Kuantan Medical Centre for an ambulance but they had none??!!

At the private hospital, Dr Lee had difficulty finding his blood vessel and he had to find one at the side of his right neck. I bet it’s painful. The doctor had to give him antibiotics.

Dad is still sleeping. He could not open his eyes.

It is so true that we try to rely on our strength in many things in life, be it on a driving test, or bringing someone to the Lord, and fail to ask God for his grace and mercy.

We also fail to remember or acknowledge that God is in control of everything – our lives, the people and the world.

We are not alone and I’m thankful that I’m not alone. I am not left alone to deal with the struggles and challenges of life. God is with me and you.
